Halal Certification

Cosmetics Manufacturer, Klang Valley

Challenge

A cosmetics company had previously applied for halal certification independently and been unsuccessful. Their supply chain involved international ingredient suppliers, and JAKIM's documentation requirements were not being fully met.

Solution

Mandare conducted a full documentation review, identified the gaps in supplier documentation, and worked with the client over six weeks to prepare a compliant application. This included coordinating a facility assessment and preparing responses to JAKIM queries.

Outcome

The application was submitted and approved without further rejection. The client now has internal protocols in place for managing supplier documentation on an ongoing basis.

Challenge

A regional broadcaster was expanding its streaming service and needed clarity on licensing requirements under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, as well as review of its content agreements with independent producers.

Solution

Mandare conducted a compliance review of the planned streaming model, identified the applicable licence categories, and prepared a submission to the MCMC. Content agreements with independent producers were also reviewed and amended to address copyright, liability, and revenue sharing terms.

Outcome

The broadcaster launched its streaming service with appropriate regulatory authorisation in place. Three content agreements were also revised, reducing the client's exposure to potential disputes over content rights.

Strata Law

Challenge

A management corporation for a high-rise residential development was dealing with a significant arrears problem and an AGM that had been contested by a group of parcel owners. The existing by-laws were outdated and not aligned with current Strata Management Act requirements.

Solution

Mandare advised on the arrears recovery process, prepared the necessary documentation for Tribunal proceedings, and provided AGM advisory covering procedural requirements. Following resolution, a revised set of by-laws was drafted for adoption.

Outcome

Arrears were recovered in part through the Tribunal process, with the balance subject to a structured payment arrangement. The revised by-laws were adopted at the subsequent AGM without challenge.
