The Mandare Practice
Mandare was established to serve businesses that need reliable legal guidance within a defined set of practice areas — not a firm that handles everything for everyone, but one that handles specific areas with depth. Our name, drawn from the Latin for "to entrust," reflects the nature of the relationship we seek with every client.
Our practice covers three specialist areas chosen because they sit at the intersection of regulatory compliance, commercial activity, and the specific legal frameworks that shape Malaysian business life. Halal certification operates under standards set by JAKIM with implications throughout the supply chain. Media and communications law in Malaysia carries its own regulatory architecture under the MCMC and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Strata property management involves a detailed statutory framework under the Strata Management Act 2013 and a dedicated Tribunal that requires careful preparation to navigate effectively.
Clients come to us when they need a clear picture of where they stand, what the regulatory requirements actually demand of them, and what a pragmatic path forward looks like. We do not offer general legal retainers or broad-based representation. Zulaikha has spent over a decade advising food manufacturers and cosmetics companies on JAKIM certification requirements, supply chain documentation, and audit preparation. Her work spans both initial applications and the management of certified status over time.
Rajan Nair
Senior Adviser — Media & Communications
Rajan focuses on the legal dimensions of digital publishing, broadcasting, and advertising in Malaysia. He advises content creators, media companies, and advertising agencies on MCMC submissions, defamation considerations, and licensing arrangements.
Lim Wei Shan
Adviser — Strata Property Law
Wei Shan advises management corporations, joint management bodies, and individual parcel owners on the full range of matters under the Strata Management Act 2013. She has represented clients in Strata Management Tribunal proceedings and drafted by-laws for stratified developments across the Klang Valley.
